I believe we are distantly related through our 8th great-grandfather (JOHN CASS, b, 1620 St. Albans, Yorkshire, England, d. April 7, 1675, Hampton, NH, and married to Martha Philbrick). One of their sons and your 7th great-grandfather JONATHAN CASS b. Sept. 13, 1663, d. Sept. 13, 1745 and married to Tabitha Ring was a brother of my descendant, JOSEPH CASS. Jumping ahead a few generations (I have the lineage), and to answer your supposition that a branch of the Cass family eventually ended up in Canada, you are correct. My 4th Great-grandfather, SIMON CASS married to Elizabeth Lock, had 11 children and 3 of their sons Theophilus, ABRAHAM and Simon II moved from Epsom, NY in 1799 with six other men to the wilderness area in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, a few miles from Vermont and north of Stanstead, Quebec, and established a settlement that became known as Cassville. These men were known as the NINE PARTNERS OF CASSVILLE. DUDLEY LYFORD CASS was a son of Abraham Cass and Mary Polly Lyford.
